Freedom Solar Power is looking for a skilled Commercial Solar Journeyman Electrician to successfully managed the execution of projects for in-state and out-of-state commercial solar-based installation. You will lead, train, and support a team of installers to install 10kW to 1MW solar systems, including overseeing work performance and providing project status updates to the Director of Commercial Operations. This position is 90% travel; with occasional weekend work/travel required.

Job Duties:

    • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems.
    • Familiarity with 3-phase electrical services and switchgear.
    • System testing – Voltage, amperage, and power tests for each system.
    • Complete commissioning and inspection checklists.
    • Follow and enforce safety procedures and protocols.
    • Support service work orders as needed.
    • Plans, coordinates, and organizes, equipment, tools, and materials to promote the safe, efficient and timely construction of the project.
    • Responsible for timely completion of work assignments within the estimated costs while maintaining the company’s reputation for quality workmanship/product.
    • Assist with other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

    • 5+ years of construction experience required.
    • Active Electrical Journeyman or Master Electrician License required.
    • Ability to travel the United States and work varying shifts as needed including weekends and overtime.
    • Valid Driver’s License Required.
    • OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred.

Preferred Skills:

    • Experience electrical equipment/circuits, complete DC conduit runs, and interconnecting the PV system to the existing service.
    • NABCEP Certification
    • Experience with solar projects
    • Mechanical experience and/or aptitude

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of local electrical codes
    • Ability to read and understand blueprints, wiring schematics, and electrical instructions
    • Ability to make field changes and communicate project issues with the Project Manager and Construction Manager
    • Ability to test voltages from 10V – 1000VDC / 120V – 480VAC
    • Ability to receive and distribute instructions
    • Ability to drive a truck and trailer safely
    • Ability to operate heavy equipment: skid-steer, forklift, reach boom, scissor lift, articulating boom lift, and sky track.
