JOB SUMMARY: The incumbent performs duties to accomplish realty transactions for the National Park Service and provides a range of real property management services for National Capital Region parks and the Regional office. MAJOR DUTIES: The major duties of the Realty Specialist position include, but are not limited to the following: Negotiates with private landowners, corporations, partnerships, non-profit conservation organizations, attorneys and governmental bodies to secure options and contracts to acquire lands and interests in land by purchase, exchange, donation or transfer. Takes all actions necessary to vest clear title in the United States when acquiring land by purchase, donation, and exchange. Prepares an array of written documents required for realty transactions. Represents the National Park Service in meetings with state and local government offices, non-profit conservation partners, landowners, and other federal agency personnel regarding complex, politically sensitive and urgent matters.
