The Power Plant Controls Applications (PPC Application) department is a sub module of the Power System Integration (PSI) module within the R&D organization.

The energy transition from fossil fouled power plants to renewables poses significant and increasing challenged to the electrical power system in several countries. The PSI module is end-to-end accountable to solve these challenges and achieve grid connection for our clients.

We thereby do the electrical design between the power grid and the individual turbines, which includes integration of various third-party BoP components incl. Solar, Energy Storage and similar. One of the main products, which enables this, is the VestasOnline(R) Power Plant Controller.

The PPC Applications department has SW engineers in Denmark and Portugal and is responsible for elements of the Power Plant Controller imbedded SW design and implementation as well as the impacted Ecosystem. This includes Supervision & Monitoring, Data- & Configuration management, UCI, Mimics, Dispatcher, Test- & Lab environments, Configuration tools, etc.

 

Responsibilities

You will report to the VP of PSI and be responsible for both people leadership and to some extend the technical domain, which is however shared with a technical delegation structure. This will reach from specifications and design towards support and optimization of a global value chain. More specifically, your responsibilities will cover:

  • People management (one-one dialogues, development plans, target settings, etc.)
  • Understand and fulfill the needs of key commercial stakeholders
  • Prioritize between long term R&D project activities, medium term development activities and short term operational support
  • Ensure the right usage of engineering-contractors in the area
  • Support and sign off on technical Strategies, Roadmaps and Designs
  • Department budgeting and resource allocations
  • Follow up on project progress to deliver high quality SW with respect to time and cost
  • Implement optimizations in processes and tools to reduce time and increase quality

 

Qualifications

  • You probably have a Master - or Bachelor degree within software, controls, electrical, etc. Engineering or Computer Science
  • Minimum 10 years relevant professional experience
  • Minimum 5 years line- or project management experience, probably supported by some leadership education
  • Good cultural understanding and international working experience
  • You have the desire and the ability to understand and maintain overview of a wide range of advanced technical domains
  • Good communication skills in English
