Due to huge growth of our team, we are seeking a Director to lead our Clean Energy and Decarbonisation projects. Due to working with the largest Natural Resources and Renewable clients across the country, we are looking for someone with 15+ years experience who has experience advising on large projects and building teams.   

Job Description

Turner & Townsend is expanding our clean energy and decarbonisation business with the ambition of becoming the sector's pre-eminent project development and delivery services. Turner & Townsend are seeking the expand our senior management team to meet the market needs in the renewables sector in Australia and New Zealand. The role is to be based in Sydney, operating at either Director / Project Director level depending on the level of experience.

Management:

  • Developing strategic partnerships with key clients across Australia and globally
  • Business development to expand existing client base through growth of client base and services
  • Supporting growing sector capability and capacity across Turner & Townsend
  • Whilst the role covers all renewables sub-sectors, hydrogen, decarbonisation and HV experience will be considered strongly.
  • Key knowledge areas include:
    • Technical
    • OEM’s within the sector
    • Industry knowledge
    • Legislative knowledge
    • Established relationships at client and supply chain level.

Service Delivery

  • Advising clients at a strategic level project initiation, development stages through to FID, including providing advice on the different approaches that can be adopted in order to successfully achieve the client’s overall objectives in the renewables sector. Ability to advise clients in the following key success areas will be highly regarded, including:
    • Approvals (legislative, commercial, environmental, JV, funding and the like)
    • Management of funding process though both banks and industry incentive schemes
    • Land access and acquisition matters
    • Grid connections
    • Establishment of PPA’s
    • Managing of grid connections
    • ESG related areas
    • Supply chain engagement
    • Stakeholder management
  • Managing teams providing services in the development and execution phase
  • Establishing effective project governance, processes and systems with our clients across their portfolios and projects
  • Leading the establishment of the overall success criteria for the project, including time, cost, technical and performance parameters
  • Managing the flow of project information between the team and the client, through regular meetings and written communications;
  • Ensuring the production of formal project progress and other reports; and
  • Taking a leading role in interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidates are professionally qualified in one of the following fields: project management, environmental/sustainability, commercial or engineering. Electrical / HV knowledge will be recognised strongly.
  • 15+ years of experience with at least 5 years in the Clean Energy and Decarbonisation industry.
  • Experience in business development and growing brands through strong client relationships.
  • A thorough understanding of the total project life cycle, from project conception stage, through all of the operational stages to completion and post-project review.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of the main project management concepts, tools, and techniques.
  • Good communication skills and ability to manage a team and control multiple projects/client commissions.
